Pupil Council
The Pupil Council met today. We welcomed a new representative from Primary 7b. We have raised £90 from the sale of pens at Parents' Evenings. We have decided to sell the pens at our school Sports Day as there are a lot left over. We have also agreed to use some of our funds to pay towards the cost of the "Stig of the Dump" performance which the whole school recently enjoyed. Here are some of the suggestions from different classes that we spoke about at our meeting today: new library books for classes, new balls for playing with outside and more picnic benches for the Quiet Corner. The date of our next meeting is Monday the 4th June.

The Magic Castle Open Afternoon
Today we had an open afternoon for parents to come along and visit our classroom and see inside the great hall of our magic castle. Mr Stewart and Mr Docherty, our class teachers, welcomed our parents, spoke to them about "A Curriculum for Excellence" and explained our activity for the afternoon by sharing learning intentions. We had to work together in pairs to design a castle and also to create a factfile giving information about our castle. We had already used the internet for research to find out as much as possible about different types of castles. Hopefully our visitors had an enjoyable time and were able to see all the hard work that we have done this term!
We would love to hear from anyone who came along to visit. Please leave a comment!

The Magic Castle
Our Primary 7 classes have been working on a very interesting topic this term. We have turned our classroom into the inside of a magic castle complete with wood panelling, wooden doors, a cosy fireplace and suits of armour along the walls not forgetting our own personal coats of arms hanging from the ceiling. Each of us also has a personal fact file with lots of information including witchcraft, wizardry, haunted castles, spells and potions. We have have used ICT and the internet to help us to research and find out many interesting facts.
We have really enjoyed this topic and have sent out invitations to our parents asking them to come and visit our classroom to see the amazing scene that we have created!

The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark Open Afternoon
Today we had a speaker from the RSPB who spoke to us about owls, birds and other types of wildlife. We enjoyed listening to him.
In the afternoon we welcomed some visitors to our classroom. We sent out invitations to mums, dads and grandparents to come along and look at our topic display. We served juice and chocolate nest cakes. Mr Kelly, our teacher, tested our parents in a quiz about birds. The mums won! We also entertained our visitors with a selection of songs.
We would love to hear from anyone who came along to visit. Please leave a comment!

The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark
The topic for Primary 3a this term is "The Owl Who Was Afraid of The Dark". We have been learning lots of interesting facts about owls both in school and at home. We found out about other types of birds and were able to watch some of them feeding at the bird table in the courtyard area of our school. In our ICT lessons, we used the internet to learn more about owls and also to find pictures of them. For art, we made a tree with branches and leaves. We also made flowers to create a forest scene. We even made our very own owls from papier mache. On Wednesday, 14th March we were lucky enough to have a real live owl in our classroom. The owl was a European Eagle Owl and his name was Wally. He is named after William Wallace. We really enjoyed his visit!
We hope that you enjoy looking at the photographs of our classroom!!
